About RebeccA
I’m a theater maker, cultural strategist, and consultant based in Berkeley, California. I believe art can strengthen our communities and invite us to imagine different futures. You can find me directing actors, facilitating community meetings, collaborating on new plays, and helping arts organizations dismantle outmoded ways of working. I’m a mother of teens, a disability activist, an aspiring gardener, and a lifelong science fiction fan.
Cultural Strategist
“Cultural strategy is a field of practice that centers artists, storytellers, media makers and cultural influencers as agents of social change.” (Jeff Chang & Erin Potts)
My cultural strategy work has included developing art pieces with social impact goals, pushing the boundaries of who gets to call themselves artists, writing and speaking about fieldwide issues, and organizing for change in my community and the field at large.
Consultant
My consulting practice grows directly from my work as an artist and cultural strategist. I focus on the systems and structures that determine who holds power, whose voices get centered, and how decisions get made. This isn't about imposing external solutions—it's about working collaboratively to identify pathways that honor both mission and community.
Theater Maker
Telling stories with other people is how I make sense of the world. I’m fascinatd by border-crossing, grief, the poetics of the body, and the somatics of liberation. My theatrical work focuses on community-engaged script development, mixed professional/community ensembles, performances outside conventional spaces and plays dealing with pressing social issues.
